Outgoing msgs I didn't create are being sent

I notice that I will see outgoing emails when
I "send/receive" my email even when my Outbox is empty.
I've scanned my system with both a virus scanner and Spy
Sweeper a program that looks for monitoring applications.

I also have the options set to never send a return recipt
when requested.

Any ideas?

Still happening.... NOTE: After these messages leave
their is no trace of them in my SENT ITEMS folder. Bruce

can you see them in the outbox? if so, what does the header say?
