Outllook.pst file cannot be opened

Hi,

I am getting an error message cannot open outlook.pst
whenever i load outlook 2002. I tried to run scanpst
without any success (same open error). The pc is running
window xp and the outlook.pst file is local on the hard
drive with a size of 126 meg. Is there any "free" utility
that can repair an pst file? or any other trick ?. I've
read that someone suggested to use a hex editor and change
the first two first digit from 21 to 00 or vice versa
than run the scanpst... Any suggestions ?
