Hello-
We have a user with an Outlook 2000 PST file that is 2150MB in size.
Outlook stopped working properly because of the 2 gig limitation on PST
files in that version. I have since upgraded him to Office 2003 and started
with a new PST file, and attempted to open the old one to drag items in, but
am unable to do so because the old file is too large and Outlook refuses to
do anything with it.
I have tried to perform the procedure outlined in
support.microsoft.com/?id=832925 to increase Outlook's PST size limit, but
the keys referenced do not exist on the workstation.. Probably a futile
attempt anyway since it seems to apply to 2003 version PST files only.
I have also tried to trim down the PST to under 2 gig using a splitting
utility from Microsoft (followed by running the inbox repair tool), but that
did not work so well either, probably because the PST is too far over the
limit.. The support page for this utility indicates that it should only be
used to trim in 5,10 or 20 meg increments.
Any suggestions are appreciated-
Rob
