Outlook 2000 Error messages

Can someone tell me when I boot up my Windows XP and try
to open Outlook 2000, I get a message NMC, time out...and
then I get IVM connection failed, time out occurred, and
Outlook will not open.

Appreciate any help anyone can give me.
