Outlook 2000 problems

Gale

Hello,

I have MS Outlook 2000 on a Win 2K 5.0 SP4 platform. No
other applications are running.

1) I go through the Setup Wizard to add my Internet email
account to Outlook 2000. I do not select MS Exchange
Server as I have Win 2K O/S but do not use it as a
network. The end result is this error message: "Internal
MAPI error: Default services could not be created. Contact
your Administrator." (I AM the Administrator.)

2) I cannot open any of the Outlook archived .pst files.
When I try, I get this error message: "C:/Documents and
Setting/Gale Flemington/Local Settings/Application
Data/Microsoft/Outlook/mailbox backup.pst is not a valid
Win32 application."

3) In the Control Panel, cannot use the options of Repair
or Uninstall to correct my Outlook problem. When I insert
the MS Office 2000 Premium CD disk, as requested, the
DATA1 file will not open.

Thankyou for your help, Gale.

1) Do you have Outlook 2000 configured in Internet Mail Only mode or in
Corporate/Workgroup mode? It sounds like you are in CW mode, and if you're
not using Exchange, you probably need IMO mode. See the following page for
a description of the two modes, to help you decide which one is right for
you: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/choosingmode.htm

2) What procedure are you using to try to open the .PST files? They're not
marked read-only, right?
