Outlook 2000 stays in memory

Does anyone know why Outlook ocassionally stays in memory
after you exit?

Windows XP Home, patches too numerous to mention.
Outlook 2000 w/Office Service Pack 3 installed.

Doesn't happen every time but often enough to be annoying.
