Outlook 2000 stops responding when synchronizing all folders

Hi

I would greatly appreciate any help on the following problem I am having:

I have set up MS Outlook 2000 to synchronize folders with our corporate
exchange server, upon exiting. This has been working fine for a number of
months until I installed XP Service Pack 2.

Now, when I exit Outlook, there is a delay of about 20 to 30 seconds before
the 'Synchronizing all Folders' window pops up. The dialogue in the window
states 'Sending outgoing mail' and the progress bar increments by 2 blocks,
then the whole application stops responding. I have to 'crash' Outlook using
task manager to close it down. Note that there is no mail in the outbox.

The interesting thing is that if I remove the synch option, close and
re-open outlook, select the synch option and then close outlook again - the
full synchronization works fine. However, when i reopen and close outlook
again, i am back to the same problem descibed above.

I have tried re-booting, searching the web for solutions etc, without any
success in fixing the problem.

The system specs are as follows:

System: Dell Inspiron 5100 Notebook
OS: Windows XP Professional SP 2
RAM: 512 Mb
HDD: 40 GB

Software:

MS Office 2000 SR-1
MS Outlook 2000 SP-3 (9.0.0.6627)
Add-ons: Salesforce Outlook Edition

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

Giles
