Outlook 2000 with Windows XP

Can someone please help? We have laptops that are running
Windows XP SP1 with Office 2000 SP3. We are having
performance issues with Outlook 2000. When working from
dialup or dsl, Outlook sometimes hangs for like 5 or more
minutes while opening an email or switching between
emails. Emails that are 2k in size are even slow. It
works fine when working on our Lan network.

We don't have this problem when running Windows 2000 with
Outlook 98.

Is there a fix out there?
