outlook 2000 won't open

All of a sudden Outlook wouldn't open. I was syncing to
my new Blackberry and it was fine. Then went I went to
open Outlook again it would start to open and then just
not finish - ctrl-alt-del = not responding. I tried all
the obvious things - reboot, reset settings to when it
was working, reinstall, with the Blackberry connecting
and without - and still nothing. The only thing I
haven't done is remove the program and reinstall. All
the other Office programs are working fine! Any
suggestions? If I need to remove it, will it delete my
data (contacts and appointments) as well? If so, where
do I find it to back it up?

Can you open Outlook in safe mode? Go to Start | Run and type "outlook.exe
/safe" in the box (including the space but without the quotes).

Hopefully you won't have to reinstall Outlook/Office -- if you do, your data
should not be affected, but of course it's always a good idea to have a good
backup in case of disaster. Look here for all the information you need on
backup and restoration of Outlook data:
