Outlook 2000 won't send mail

I am running Win2000 Pro and using Outlook 2000,When i try to send e-mail it
sits in the outbox and i have to try sending 3 or 4 times before it goes,I
dial up to the net as most people and didnt have any problems when i was
using O/look Express.I have to say i am a computer dummy so if anyone can
help please explain it simply !!!!
