Outlook 2002 CPU Usage at 100%

I am running Outlook 2002 and use auto updates for XP. Recently Outlook
2002 causes 100% CPU usage after about 10 minutes of use. I've searched
this and the web in general, and it seems that several people have this
problem, without one (or even a handful) of definitive solutions. I've
disabled indexing service, I've repaired my pst file, I have no
bluetooth devices. Can't think of anything that has changed on my
system to explain this new issue. Searching the Microsoft knowledge
base hasn't been helpful.

Thanks for any tips.

I dont know, but things to try;
1) Disable any plugins / coms addins
2) New Profile
3) Scanpst.exe, the repair tool
4) New pst

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, these didn't do the trick. After
running for a few hours (and after successfully checking email several
times in that period), the CPU usage pegs at 100% and the machine is
effectively frozen. I can close Outlook, but its process survives. I
then have to manually kill the process using the task manager. Any
other ideas would be appreciated.

If you close OL, and the proccess continues it generally means something is
accessing the pst
Do you have any Desktop Search apps installed?
Try using Msconfig to disable all startups and test. If that produces no
result msconfig again, hide all MS services, disable the rest and test

Thanks! This did it. Not sure what startup was causing the problem,
but disabling all the startups got rid of the problem. I will now go
through them one by one and pin down the actual culprit. Thanks again.
