Outlook 2002 delay on opening messages

I just installed Office XP SP2 and the security patches
for Outlook, but now every time I try to open a message it
takes 5 seconds. How can I fix that?

Try going to Tools -> Options -> Other and disabling Instant Messaging
integration.
