Outlook 2002 freezes other applications when opening attatchments

When I recieve an email with an attachment (eg. Word document), the
attachment is opened in the background (it's displayed at the Windows task
bar), but all open applications freezes.
If I minimize Outlook, everything seems to work, but it's quite annoying

Any ideas to solve this problem will be very welcome.
