Outlook 2002 My Notes contain Mail

D

Darius Linder

For some reason my "Notes" folder doesn't actually contain
Notes anymore.

If I right click and do a properties on the "Notes"
folder, the Type is listed as "Folder containing Mail and
Post Items". The type should be "Notes" (The notes are
not contained in a personal folder)

Also when I click on the Notes folder, usually there are
some toolbar icons for "Large Icons, Small Icons" and I
don't get those toolbar icons either.

Does anybody know how I can change the type of my "Notes"
back to "Notes"?

Try starting Outlook by Start-> Run and then type (with quotes and check
your path to Outlook.exe)
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /resetfolders

Also can you select the Note (ipm.stickynote) by hand?

My Outlook Notes 2000 properties show as a mail item as well. How do I change it back to Notes?

Thanks Roady!
Starting Outlook by using
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10
\Outlook.exe" /resetfolders WORKED! (read on...)

Upon startup of Outlook it created a "Notes1" folder that
was of type Notes and my "Notes" folder was still of type
mail items.

I moved my notes from the "Notes" folder to the newly
created "Notes1" folder. If I click on the "Notes1"
folder all of my notes look like actual notes again. Now
the question is how do I rename "Notes1" to "Notes"

I exited Outlook and started it again with
the /resetfolder option.

Now my "Notes" folder is of type Notes, so I moved my
notes from the "Notes1" folder back to the "Notes" folder
and deleted the "Notes1" folder.

All is well again in Outlook land.

Thanks,
Darius
