outlook 2002, turn off automatic sending of return receipts

I have office xp, using outlook for my email, I can not turn off the
automatic sending of return reciepts. there is no notification of new email
and service pack 3 is already applied.

my spam is getting really unbareable now because of what the spam bots are
doing with the return receipts.
