Outlook 2003 BCM update slows down my computer, any thoughts?

When I installed my Outlook 2003 BCM update it slowed my system performance
down significantly.

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2
512mb RAM
Celeron(R) CPU 2.20GHz

It seems that the sqlserver process was added from the original release. Is
there any way to disable the sql server and still run BCM, even if the causes
me to lose certain feartures?

This is fairly typical for almost all systems due to BCM being run by the SQL
Desktop Engine (MSDE). This additional process running in the background
requires a lot of resources. I find it slowest of course when you first open
Outlook and start to open your first BCM item. Once I am up and running
everything seems to work a little faster but it is annoying at times.

This has really proven to be a problem with the ACT 2005 (A different Contact
Management application made by Sage Software) version which was a totally
rewritten app using .NET with MSDE. They really alienated a LOT of their
loyal users due to the program being practically unusable at such a slow pace.
BCM does slow even the fastest systems down but I haven't found it to be
something I can't live with. Hopefully this is being noted by the designers
and will be improved upon in the future.
