Outlook 2003 cached exchange mode

Is there a limit to the mailbox size when sychronizing in
cached exchange mode? We have a mbox that is
approximatly 2gb and it stops downloading and prompts
gives a prompt to reduce the size of the box.

Is this an Exchange prompt or an Outlook prompt as Outlook 2003 can go
beyond the 2GB limit that was inherent with earlier versions of Outlook
