Outlook 2003 - Can send but not receive e-mail

I have just bought and installed Outlook 2003 as my
default email handler. Prior to that I was using Outlook
Express without difficulty. I can send emails via Outlook
2003 but I don't receive e-mails. When I run Outlook
Express, received e-mails are shown clearly. With Outlook
I have the automatic Send/Receive option set at 5
minutes. Nothing appears to happen. I press F9. The
send/receive check to the server is made but no emails
are received. My e-mail server uses POP3. I am missing
the point somewhere. Any helpful clues?
