Outlook 2003: Marking unread as read when NOT using preview-pane

Hello.

I have Outlook 2003 set up with the preview-pane turned off.

However, in doing so, any new (bold) mail will not be marked as read
unless I either double-click (open), or rt-click and select it as read.

Is there anyway to have incoming mail marked as read as soon as I highlight
it with the mouse, like you can do in OE?
