We have a new Dell computer using Outlook 2003, one of only two systems
using Outlook 2003. Our 50+ other seats are all either Outlook 2000 or XP,
with Exchange 2003sp2..
On just this one new computer Outlook 2003 frequently doesn't switch the
message displayed in the viewer pane when selecting different messages. For
instance, the user will open Outlook, with the first message selected and
displayed in the preview pane, and selecting other messages will for for a
few times. Then she selects any other message, yet the preview pane is still
displaying the original message, not the selected one. Double-clicking on
the header line opens the correct message in a separate window, but closing
this window still leaves the incorrect message displayed in the preview
pane. What also happens at this time is that the Reply, Reply to all, and
Forward buttons will then all be greyed out. Clicking on Send/Receive
re-activates the greyed out buttons, but the incorrect message is still
displayed in the preview pane. Exiting and restarting Outlook fixes it for a
little while - as a matter of fact, it seems the behavior usually starts
after deleting a message, (the contents of the deleted message still stay
visible in the viewer window), or when switching folders, the contents of
the original folder are displayed, not the current folder.
All the latest service packs and updates are installed, and
Office2003/Outlook has been uninstalled and reinstalled.
'Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Thanks - John
