Outlook 2003 not leaving memory when closed

P

Paul Martin

Hi all

Last few days when I close Outlook it shuts down but if you open task
manager its still there. If you try and load it again another instance
appears in task manager but won't load unless you force the previous one
closed. This has just started happening and I haven't added or removed
anything lately. I have tried and removed Office completely and reinstalled
but still the same. Anybody got any idea why this has started to happen.

THanks
Paul

There are several things that can cause Outlook to not shut down completely:

1. PDA docked in its cradle.
2. Fax Software - especially Winfax 10.x
3. AV set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.
4. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
5. COM add-ins.
6. Programs that keep and Outlook stub open such as automatic notifiers.

I've seen the same problem. It occurs even when running in "Safe mode with
networking" (outlook 2003 does not pure "Safe mode"). We are using an
Exchange 2003 server. And it only happens when using my Exchange Server
profile. When using a POP3 profile Outlook closes down properly.

I even tried creatiing a new Exchange server profile but the problem still
occurs.

Any ideas?
