Outlook 2003 stops Send/Recv on Login Failure

Hello everyone,
This has been a nagging issue with me for years and I can't find the
settings anywhere to fix it. At my office I use Outlook to service 5 email
accounts. Almost every morning I come in and it is stuck on prompting me for
a login. My login ID/PWDs have not changed in years. They work most of the
time, but ususally overnight at least one account gets stuck, and it stops
the entire process from finishing. I usually just cancel the send/receive,
and then everything works fine for the rest of the day...without my changing
any information. No, we don't use Exchange, just direct POP/SMTP connections
with the remote mail servers.

The problem is, when I come into work I must then wait until hundreds of
emails download (mostly junk that gets filtered out) before I can read the
business related emails and continue with my day.

Is there a place I can tell Outlook to skip over an account if it doesn't
authenticate in, say, 60 seconds? That would be a great help.

Thanks for any advice...
