outlook 2003 will not receive e-mail

My outlook 2003 suddenly stopped receiving e-mail but still can send. I hit the 'test account settings' button under my e-mail account settings and it shows I can send and receive. I use a pop3 server which I download my e-mail from. Why has it suddenly hung up on receiving and how do I fix it?
