Outlook 2003 won't display .msg email

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail with a number of email attachments in .msg format. On my home machine running Outlook 2000, I was able to click on the attachments and see the contents fine - they opened as an e-mail message as they should. I have all the security updates on my home machine and the .msg attachments opened fine

I am using an outlook synchronisation program which keeps all messages in sync between my home machine (outlook 2000) and my laptop (Outlook 2003 - ver 11.5608.5703). I have never had any problems with any attachments in the past. When I try to open the attachments in Outlook 2003 (double click on one of the .msg attachments), a blank email is opened

If I go back to Outlook 2000, I can open the attached .msg emails OK. I can then drag/drop the attachment into the inbox or some other folder - again everythign is fine

When those same e-mails are synced to outlook 2003, they show up fine!!

They are blank when sent as an attachment, but they are OK if they are sent to the outlook 2003 machine as a single email

Does anyone know why an attached .msg file would open as a blank e-mail on outlook 2003 byut openeing the same attachment on outlook 2000 opens them fine? When they are opened on 2003, they actually open an e-mail, but everythgin is blank - as if I selected 'new email' in outlook 2003

I am running Norton anti-virus 2003 as well as XP as an OS on the laptop and the home machine

Help!

Cheers
Brian
