Why does an e-mail I want to send end up in my Outbox?

I have Windows XP, Microsoft 2003 and AOL.

Email MUST first go to your Outbox in order to be sent. If it doesn't leave
your Outbox, you have trouble. Recheck your outgoing server settings.
