Outlook 2007 - fetching messages

Hi,

This is really ANNOYING...
I have my Outlook to send/receive mail every 5 minutes, but if I am typing
an email... whole of outlook just "stops responding" and I can't continue
typing the email until its finished the sending and receiving... which can
take about 2 minutes+

I am currently using IMAP on our servers and it seems it wants to download
every message everytime... "fetching message 1 to [so many thousands]"

Is there a solution to solve this?

- I don't remember Outlook 2003 did this... or did it? can't remember.

Anyway, if you could help out.
