Outlook 2007 - Missing Categorize Function for Emails

Just installed the trial version of Outlook 2007. The categorize button on
the main toolbar is missing. Also, there is no Categorize function on the
Actions menu, and no categorize button appears when editing an email. I
checked the "Add or Remove Buttons" function, and the button is not even
listed as an option.

The button is shown when editing a calendar item or contact, just nowhere to
be found on screens dealing with email. Is this function not present in the
trial version? Is there perhaps a setting that I have configured incorrectly?

Thank you.

it on the option flyout (click the little arrow on the right of the options
chunk or more options if you view the options ribbon) when composing mail.
in the main outlook window, its on the standard toolbar - a 4 square colored
icon.

The flyout works - I didn't know about that. Thanks.

However, the icon you speak of is missing from the standard toolbar, as well
as from the toolbar when composing or reading emails. It is on the toolbar
for editing contacts and calendar items, but nowhere else. In addition, when
I read an email and click "Options", the "Categories" button is disabled,
i.e. "grayed" out, so I can't assign received mail to a category.

Thoughts? Thank you very much for your help.

If you want to categorize outgoing e-mails via that Options dialog, I think
you have to add this to your registry:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences]
"SendPersonalCategories"=dword:00000001
