Outlook 97 Mapisp32

I have a mail stuck in my outbox (not large)and I keep
getting an error message:

Mapisp32 has caused and error in <unknown>.
Mapsisp32 will now close.

If you continue to experience problems, try restarting
your computer.

Naturally this has no effect whatsoever and I can't send
or receive mail

Any ideas?
