Outlook adding extra text when I press send

In Outlook 2003 I type a hyperlink in my message and when the message extra text is added. The recipient cannot click on the link to reach the web page. e.g. 'www.google.co.uk' becomes 'HYPERLINK:"www.google.co.uk"www.google.co.uk'. How do I stop this happening?
