Outlook attachment backups

I am using Outlook 2002. The last time I backed up my outlook file so that I
could reformat my hard drive, when I reinstalled it, I had all of the old
messages, but none of the attachments. Is there a way that I can be sure to
keep the attachments from these messages without having to save each one
individually?

Thanks for any help on this

If you back up the .PST file, all attachments should be retained, since
Outlook saves attachments within the .PST file by default. If you remove
the attachments from a message manually or use a 3rd party attachment to do
so, then they will no longer reside in the .PST file. Make sure you simply
re-use the .PST file in Outlook rather than importing from it.

Thanks so much. I thought this is what I did last time, but I may well have
imported the .pst file rather than using it as the default file when I
re-installed.
