Outlook attachments showing up as ".dat"

Hello,

When I send an email via Outlook through my Hotmail
account or my Comcast account, some recipients cannot
open the attachment because they receive a .dat file.

Some recipients can open the attachment.

When I send directly from Hotmail with and attachment
(not via Outlook), my recipients are always able to open
the attachment.

What could be the cause of this?

Are you using RTF message format? Switch to plain text or HTML and it should work fine.
