Outlook closes with an error "Could not complete the operation"

When closing Outlook after editing a note I get the following error:
Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.
Closing this error produces another notice:
The note will close and your changes will not be saved.
The note was closed and the data was saved.
I have tried the fix suggested in article #842942 with no success.
This only happens if I open a note. All other times Outlook closes without
any errors.
