Outlook Contact search feature stopped working

I cannot search my contacts anymore. I am using MS Outlook 2002 with SP3. In
addition selecting the Stop command does not end a search. The program just
grinds on and on with no result.

Actually the problem is worse than just contacts. I cannot search for email
either.
