Outlook does not accept emails from my ISP without hitting send/r.

I have Outlook as part of Office 2003 running on XP Professional. My ISP,
Earthlink hosts my email account. I have to press send/receive as if it were
a refresh button, to get and display my new emails in the Outlook inbasket.
Is there a setting I have missed that allows automatic receive while I am
online?

Outlook's normal behavior is to check for email at startup. You can
modify your other send and receive settings by clicking

tools | options | mail setup | Send/Recieve

Make sure "perform send and receive" every so many minutes is checked.
Mine is set to 10 minutes. You may want it to check form mail more often
