Outlook Express Message on login

When I boot my pc I get a message box titled Outlook Express with the
following text, "To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages.
This may take a few minutes." with OK and cancel options. I have unistalled
Outlook Express, is this a valid message or is this a virus?

You haven't uninstalled OE. In XP and Vista you can't uninstall it. All you
have done is to remove ACCESS to it, which is what the dialog box says.
Just say "yes" and allow it to do it's thing. If you don't use OE you won't
be bothered again...
And BTW, OE is NOT the same as Outlook and is NOT part of Office...
