Outlook express - Sent Items - Can't delete..

I have been unable to delete my "sent" e-mails - I've
tried all different ways to delete - therefore, they have
accumulated and now my "sent items" will not display -

Can anyone help me with this problem -
1) getting my sent items to display
2) deleting my sent items
