outlook express tries to read attachments with the wrong program

..ppt attachments are all of a sudden read with windows
picture and fax viewer.

the misread attachments are marked .ppt

i tried to right click and change the program, but i only
get an "open" option, rather than the "open with" that i
thought would fix things

help please

It's a file association problem that nees to be corrected.
You should really try an OE group.

This is not an Outlook problem. This is a problem
with your Windows Explorer File Types setting.

Open Windows Explorer (hit the Windows key and "E")
Go under the Tools menu, click Folder Options,
go to the File Types tab, find your PPT extension and
click Change. Browse to POWERPNT.EXE and select it.

That should fix the problem.
