Outlook express v 6 - unable to change font for composing

I have just started using outlook expresws version 6, and
I have been trying to change the font setting on the
compose tab under tools/options. I change the setting,
click OK, but the setting doesn't take. Can someone tell
me why this is? and how to get around it.
Help would be appreciated.
