Outlook filtering inbox, messages invisible, how do I turn off the filtering??

hi,

I have a laptop running XP with Outlook as the email proggy...

my friend did something that has suddenly started "filtering" his
email... whatever it was was unintentional, but I can't find anything
that tells me what exactly is being filtered or how to turn it off.

Help!!!

in the inbox window, at the bottom is says, "Filter Applied" and says
there are 9 items, but is showing nothing.. ??

how do I get to view my messages again? When they first come in I can
see them but after viewing them, they disappear.

thanks for any help..

Easiest and a long term fix, right click in the toolbar area and select
Customiize. Enable the Advanced toolbar. On that toolbar, you will see a
dropdown window. Ensure that the view is set to all messages, not unread or
by icon.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
