I tried to have two networked computer share the same Outlook.pst file and I
see this isn't going to work. One user locks out the other. Is there a way
to do it? Is that what Microsoft Exchange Server is for. The file server is
Red Hat so I'm not sure it will work. I'm just learning networking so I hope
it's not a stupid question but is there a way to share Outlook contacts
among 5 or so workstations without setting up Exchange server? We use an
excellent Roladex type DOS program for many years by Futurus but I can't get
it to run in XP. :( Any suggestions? Can Act! or any other contact database
programs be shared in an office network? We need a SIMPLE solution if
possible.

Yes, for one thing.
The file server is Red Hat so I'm not sure it will
work.

Are you hosting a PST on a Samba share? Not supported and can lead to PST
corruption.
