Outlook Freezes when attempting to attach

Using Outlook 2002 with Exchange Server 98. Dell Inspiron
8200.

When my laptop is freestanding, and connected to the
internet, attempts to attach files from my local HDD cause
Outlook to freeze for 5+ minutes between directories. This
only happens when the laptop is not in its port station.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Make sure you don't have any networkdrives still connected when you are not
connected to the network. It is trying to connect to those dives and it will
wait for a timeout. I believe you meant to say Windows 98 and not Exchange
98? You might want to upgrade to Windows 2000 or Windows XP as they are more
suitable for networking environments than Windows 98.
