outlook hangs receiving attachment

I've got an ISP with a pop server that I use Outlook 2000
to grab mail messages from. Whenever a slightly large
file (greater than 450k) comes into the inbox, the outlook
client hangs when trying to receive the email. When I try
to open the same attachment using webmail, I have no
issue. When I deleted that email message from the inbox,
outlook suddenly works without issue again. Any idea what
could be causing this? (Outlook
2000, from Office 2000 SP3).

This could be caused by your virusscanner and/or firewall. Disable them and
send yourself a test message and see if the problem still occurs. If not
update your virusscansoftware (the program, not just the virusdefinitions)
and/or firewall.
