OUTLOOK INBOX GOES TO EXCHANGE

When I open my inbox in outlook all appears normal. As I move from one mail to another the mail transfers to Exchange. It no longer shows up in Outlook. The only folder affected is the inbox. This, as you might imagine, is quite frustrating. It was a couple of weeks before I figured out where my mail was disappearing to. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it

What do you mean by "transfers to Exchange" ? Need a lot more info - what
version of Outlook, what services do you have loaded in your mail profile...
and why do you not want to keep all your mail in the Exchange mailbox?
