I am using Outlook 2003 and have Norton Systemworks 2004 PRO installed.
Recently while I have Outlook open, a NAV window pops up stating that
"Microsoft Outlook is waiting for a virus scan of Outlook.srs." The choices
are "OK" and "CANCEL" which according to the NAV information, Canceling
should stop the scan. Instead, no matter what I choose or even if I choose
nothing, Outlook is hourglassed to the point of not responding leading me to
shut the application down; if I want a SHORT time to use Outlook, I must
reboot my system. I have read the Knowledgebase results (13 of them) and
eventually came to a reference to KB Article 823166 that speaks of virus
scanning and an Exchange Server (which I do NOT have). However, the article
mentions configuring NAV to exclude a folder - in my case I chose to exclude
the entire C:\documents and settings\user_name\application
data\Microsoft\Outlook. So far, no lock-ups, but I can not tell if my e-mail
is being scanned properly or not. If anyone is familiar with this issue or
has any suggestions, I'm begging for assistance. Thanks in advance, Steve -
