After I setup a Outlook client to use an exchange server it loses its
connection and cannot find it again.

Office XP
Windows XP Pro

Small Business serve 2000 (exchange server)

I have verified that it is not a profile problem or an account problem.
(tried multiple users and profiles all with same error).

I can go into mail control panel and try to change settings and it will take
5 minutes before it times out... I tell it to work offline and then tell it
to check name on server and it will take another 5 minutes before it finds
the user. after that outlook will open normally once and then the next time
it will time out again. We have tried re-installing office and it didn't
help. I checked IP settings and all seems ok. The PC can map shared drives
off the server so it has to be communicating. Any ideas???

Thanks for your help,

Does the Exchange server hold more than one networkcard? Try adding the
hostname and IP address in your HOSTS-file.
Also check your DNS server for double entries for the Exchange server.

It ended up being that this PC still had NWLink and Netbeui enabled from a
previous location. Disabled both and it worked great...

Thanks for the help
