Subject: Outlook + Norton Firewall then no outgoing
Emails

Weird:
Had Outlook 2k SR1,worked fine, then installed Norton
Firewall then Norton System Works 2003. Everything worked
fine for a while.
Then eventually, I discovered an increasingly larger
percentage of Emails, but not all, never actually made it
out of the outbox, even though the outbox said they were
sent.
Knowing the Norton Antivirus part of System works
intercepted the outgoing E-Mail, scanned it, then sent it
on its way, I eventually came to the realization that it
must be that software giving me troubles. I uninstalled
both the system works and firewall. Support from Norton
was guesses non of which seemed relevent.
Now it gets weirder:
Once removed/uninstalled, Outlook began sending mail
again. (Anyone know how hard it is to track outbound E-
Mails!!) HOWEVER:
~Now it wouldn't receive any E-Mails. An IMMEDIATE
confirmation comes up that there were no mails on the
server even though there were.
And:
Emails that are resent or forwarded, now have an error
that says it can't find the server, would I like to use
the default, I say yes, and away it goes. New Mail goes
straight away.
Outlook with no receive capabilities is almost a waste of
time, especially after all the time it took to get
everything set up correctly. The server setup (POP & SMTP)
is triple checked for accuracy. Now I uninstall Office,
and then reinstall office. Same. Again, with full reboots,
NAda.
So to get going I set up Outlook Express, (I Hate OE) and
bingo works first time. I now receive on OE then often
copy the email to Outlook to send unless its simple.
This is how it is now.
Obviously I think that Norton changed something in the
outlook I can't find, services are set up OK. My guess is
its something in the Reg.
I have the instructions to from Norton/Symantec to verify
Norton has uninstalled correctly and the registers
were OK. I don't think it changed whatever it does to
Outlook, back to normal again, and as it persists even
with a full reinstall after uninstall of Office, I am
close to appoplexy. Can't really fault Outlook (I guess)
but does anyone have any ideas, or is my only alternative
to I find another outlook type of program?
Thanx
