Outlook overlooked to outlook express as default email

N

naffy

I have set outlook 2003 as my default email program.
Nevertheless, on browsing websites when I click on
the "contact us" button or similar, the message I want to
send goes to my outbox in outlook express, rather than
outlook. Does anyone know how to rectify this.

Many thanks

This sounds like a file type association problem. The easiest thing to try
is to:
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Go to Tools -> Internet Options.
3. Select the Programs tab.
4. Make sure Outlook is selected under E-mail. If it is then select Outlook
Express and click OK.
5. Then reopen it and reselect Outlook and click Ok and test.

If this does not resolve the issue then here are the steps to check the
file type association in Windows:
1. Go to Start -> My Computer.
2. Go to Tools -> Folder Options.
3. Select the File Types tab.
4. Under the File Types column find the URL:MailTo Protocol and select it.
5. Click the Advanced button.
6. Click on Edit.
7. Under "Application used to perform action:" it should read
"<drive>:\<path>\Outlook.exe" -c IPM.Note /m "%1".
For example: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE\OUTLOOK.EXE" -c IPM.Note /m"%1".
8. Click on Ok twice and then close.

I hope this information is helpful.
