When opening Outlook (2000, I believe), the following
messages appear: 1. Get a performed an illegal
operation then, 2. The file outlook.pst is in use by
another appliocation. Close any application using this
file and try again.

The guy using the computer ran Norton Utilities, which
found bad clusters and he did whatever it asks to clean
them up. Since then, he has received the messages above.
He has restarted his computer several times. Not sure
what to do short of reinstalling Outlook. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Has the user ran the inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) against the *.pst file?

For the file in use, I would disable realtime virus scanning to see if it is
causing an issue.
