Outlook remains running in the background after exiting

When you view Processes in Task Manager, you find that
Outlook remains running in the background after exiting.
This happens sporadically.

When this happens, occasionally other programs hang, but
become responsive as soon as you end the process.

I'd like to know what's causing this and how to make
Outlook always shut down when I exit it.

I've noticed this behavior with both Outlook XP & Outlook
2003.

Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chi Melville

If you have search capabilities, read the thread called "figured out
why outlook 2003 didn't shut down".

---------------------------------------------
According to Micorosft, quote :
Having a PDA or fax software are 99% of the reasons why Outlook does
not shut down. That answer has been posted here in reponse to this
problem since Outlook 98 came out.

No solutions - no fixes. Been happening for 5 YEARS according to MS.!

Not for me though. Worked fine in Office XP. Happens to me in 2003.
Doesn't matter that Microsoft makes the PDA Operating System, the
synching software, and the O/S on your desktop. It's YOUR problem to
figure out.

So much for upgrading for improvements..
