outlook rules

Hi! I am trying to send an automatic e-mail reply indicating I will be away
for several days. I can not figure out how to create a message that the
rules designer will accept. Any suggestions?

You don't actually need to create a rule for this, Microsoft have built a
routine for doing this for you.

Get Outlook into E-mail mode, and then click on the Tools menu. You should
see an option called 'Out Of Office Assistant' go throuhg the dialogs in this
menu to achieve exactly what you want.

Not if the OP is not on Exchange. The Out of Office Assistant is a server
side action only available using Exchange.

The rules designer will "accept" just about anything - what do you mean that
it won't accept it?

If it says something like this rule will be applied to all messages are you
sure you want to continue, say yes. That's what you want. Just turn the
rule on and off as needed.

If you tell us your version (and platform) we can be much more specific with
our answers!

I have Outlook Express. When I go into Message Rules, I first select which
messages it needs to apply to. Then I am to indicate what action I want
taken, when I say reply with message, the word message is highlighted. When
I click on that, it gives me selections in my documents folder, but only
allows access to folders, not documents. Is there another place I should
save my message to in order to have it available?

This is not a site for Outlook Express assistance - google and you will find
the right place to post your question.
